GIGAN Announces New Drummer
November 11, 2007GIGAN, the Florida-based band formed by guitarist Eric Hersemann (ex-DIABOLIC, HATE ETERNAL),has issued the following update:
"GIGAN is pleased as punch to announce that WE HAVE A NEW DRUMMER!!! Danny Ryan is his name and we couldn't be happier!!! Grover did a great job helping us out when he did and we wish him the BEST!!! We are all still friends, but Grover was just unable to commit to the necessary time it takes to be GIGAN's drummer.
"Danny's first performance with us was at the Empty Bottle in Chicago, IL; and as those of you fortunate enough to have witnessed the gig already know...HE WAS KILLER!!! Danny also completed his trax for the new record with MINIMAL editing and in a mere three days!!! SO!!! WELCOME TO THE GIGAN UNIVERSE, DANNY!!!
"The record will be finished by the end of next week, then it is on to the mastering process!!! WE ARE EXCITED!!!"
GIGAN recently signed a multi-album deal with Index Entertainment.
According to a press release, GIGAN's concept "consists not only of aggressive-intelligent speed, cosmic soundscapes and technicality, but a visual feast as well. Magick-influenced psychedelia will undoubtedly be a lyrical focus in addition to songs inspired by misanthropy and the supernatural."
Completing the GIGAN lineup is Randy Piro (ex-HATE ETERNAL).
GIGAN is recording its as-yet-untitled debut album with producer Sanford Parker (MINSK, RWAKE, PELICAN) at the Volume Studios in Chicago.
Commenting on the new material, Hersemann said: "The 'Footsteps of Gigan' EP is only a mere glimpse into the GIGAN universe and serves as a gateway to the eventual soundscapes to be unleashed on the new album. You can expect at least eight new songs each with their own personality and color. GIGAN is always evolving so each release is an important step for us musically and creatively. I am especially looking forward to working with my old pal Sanford again; he has an uncanny knack for bringing extremity and pschedelia together seamlessly, so I feel he is a perfect individual to capture GIGAN's collective imagination in the highest quality possible."
A February 2008 release date is expected.
